ACE Executive Director Gil Van Over III offers expert advice to Agent Entrepreneur readers for handling sovereign citizens, a group — but not a protected class — of Americans who may believe they can avoid the obligations spelled out in their retail installment sale contracts.
How? A series of tricks based on bad advice, none of which should discourage dealers and F&I professionals from quickly ending the transaction.

“Sovereign citizens may try different tactics to purchase and finance a vehicle with no intention of paying for it,” Van Over explains. “Successful tactics will likely end up as a loss to the dealer. We need to make the dealer community aware of this movement and provide some steps a dealer can take to protect the house.”
