CNCDA Says Scout Motors Plan Violates Calif. Law
CarBuzz reports the California New Car Dealers Association sent a cease-and-desist letter to Volkswagen’s Scout Motors division, claiming plans to sell its EVs directly to consumers would violate state law.
The letter states that, because Scout is part of VW, the factory’s dealers would be unfairly deprived of an opportunity to sell those vehicles.
“We’re betting Scout is going to proceed with its direct sales plans in California for the time being, which will probably lead to a lawsuit and a legal battle,” CarBuzz’s Joel Stocksdale writes, in part. “Likely the only thing that will stop VW is a resultant court decision.”
