Hyundai Recalls Tucson and Santa Cruz Models for Rollaway Risk

Hyundai has announced a recall affecting its Tucson and Santa Cruz models from the 2025 model year due to a rollaway risk. According to the recall notice, certain models may have a defect that will allow them to shift out of Park without pushing down on the brake pedal, Car and Driver reports.
The recall affects a total of 42,465 models: 35,560 Tucsons and 6,905 Santa Cruzes. According to NHTSA’s documents, the issue stems from an improperly installed wiring harness in the console which may come in contact with the mechanism that controls the shift-lever lock.
While a stop-driving warning has not yet been issued, owners of the affected vehicles have been advised to use their parking brakes when shifting their vehicles into Park.
