GM Recalls Over 461,000 Vehicles for Transmission Issues

Nov. 13, 2024 | |

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), General Motors has issued a recall for more than 461,000 vehicles across multiple brands due to a defect in the transmission control valve that can cause the vehicle’s rear wheels to lock up, severely increasing the risk of a crash.

Models affected include the 2020–’22 Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra and the 2021 Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon, among others. To resolve the issue, GM will install a new transmission control software module free of charge and will also provide a special program to repair the affected transmissions.

GM has asked its dealers to stop delivery of the affected vehicles immediately.
