Jeep Recalls Plug-In Hybrid Models Over Battery Fire Risk

Jeep has announced a recall for 194,000 of its plug-in hybrid Wrangler 4xe (2020–’24) and Grand Cherokee 4xe (2022–’24) models, citing concerns over battery pack defects that could pose a fire risk.
Stellantis, the parent company of Jeep, initiated the recall after reviewing customer data and finding 13 fires that may have been started by the issue.
The recall impacts thousands of units, with owners advised to park vehicles outdoors and away from structures until repairs are completed. Stellantis also advised that the risk of fire is greatly diminished when the battery charge level is depleted, so owners have been cautioned to avoid recharging until a resolution is announced.
