Timmerman Named Auto Finance Executive of the Year
Doug Timmerman, interim CEO of Ally Financial and president of Ally’s dealer financial services division, was named 2024 Auto Finance Executive of the Year by Black Book. He will receive the award as part of a special ceremony on Nov. 18 at Used Car Week in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Nick Zulovich interviewed Timmerman for Auto Fin Journal. Timmerman told the editor each of his 30-plus years at Ally and its predecessor, General Motors Acceptance Corp. (GMAC), was spent serving an industry he loves.
“We’re in the relationship business,” Timmerman said. “Our relationships with our dealers are at the heart of our business. There are so many stories in the auto business that tie back to the American Dream. People come from very little and become very successful. Seeing others’ success is personally rewarding.”
