Walser Acquires Three Twin Cities Dealerships From Grossman Family

Walser Automotive Group has completed the acquisition of three franchised dealerships in the Minneapolis-St. Paul market — Freeway Ford in Bloomington and Metropolitan Ford and Suburban Chevrolet in Eden Prairie — in what the Bloomington-based Walser calls the largest acquisition in its 72-year history.

All three stores were previously owned by the Grossman Family Dealership Group. The acquisition adds nearly 300 employees to Walser’s organization and expands the group’s roster to 38 rooftops in Minnesota, Kansas and Illinois. In a release, executives note Ford has returned to the Walser portfolio for the first time in 20 years.

“It is rare to find this kind of alignment with established dealerships, great teams and a market we know well,” writes CEO Andrew Walser. “Bringing them in is a meaningful investment in the Twin Cities and in Walser’s long-term future.”

The Q2 2026 Kerrigan Blue Sky Report documented record buy-sell activity industrywide, driven in part by dealer groups consolidating in markets where they already have a presence.
