3 Brands Hit by 6-Figure Recalls

BMW, Ford and Stellantis have recalled a total of nearly 500,000 U.S.-sold units over the past two weeks in a series of unrelated notices from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The largest and arguably most serious affects more than 200,000 BMWs: some or all 2019–’21 2 Series, 3 Series, 4 Series, 5 Series, X3, X4 and Z4 models, as well as a limited number of 2000–’02 Supras manufactured by BMW for Toyota. The recalled units may be susceptible to corroded engine starter relays that could cause a fire.
“Owners should park outside and away from buildings and other vehicles until they either confirm their vehicle is not subject to the recall or have their vehicle remedied,” the NHTSA notice states.
Also on NHTSA’s list are 115,539 2020–’21 Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 Super Duty pickups due to a steering column upper shaft hard slider that could separate from the steering column and, less critically, 123,396 2022–’24 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs, from which window trim pieces may unexpectedly detach.
