Dealer Claims NFL Star Missed 46 Lease Payments, Failed to Return Vehicle
San Francisco 49ers star offensive tackle Trent Williams stands accused of fraud and breach of contract after missing nearly four years’ worth of payments on a 2018 Porsche 911 leased from a dealership operated by OpenRoad Auto Group of Western Canada, according to a TMZ report.
Williams allegedly made the first two payments in August and September of 2021, then closed the debited bank account.
“The company says it doesn’t know where the car is now — claiming Williams may have sold it to a car company which in turn sold it to someone else,” the report states. “Either way, the company says Williams owes past-due lease payments totaling $244,199.28, as well as additional charges, fees and costs.”
It is unclear which dealership the vehicle was leased from or where the lawsuit was filed. No record of a civil claim involving the parties appears in a search of databases that track cases in U.S. and Canadian courts. Williams could not be reached for comment, according to TMZ.
