Toyota, Hyundai and Ford lead in year-over-year gains in Automotive News’s Q3 and September U.S. new-vehicle sales reports, which show a boom for EVs and hybrids and welcome news for Stellantis dealers, who delivered 6.2% more units in Q3 2025 than in Q3 2024, ending an eight-quarter losing streak.

Most major manufacturers report sales to the Automotive News Data Center on a monthly basis. Others, including Stellantis as well as General Motors, only share quarterly reports.

Trending upward in September were Toyota (up 14.2% from September 2024), Hyundai (12.8%), Ford (12.7%) and Kia (11.2%). Honda was essentially flat at -0.2% and Subaru and Mazda suffered double-digit decreases.

Some factories improved sales in Q3 compared with the year-ago quarter, including Toyota (up 15.9% from Q3 2024), Hyundai (12.7%) and Kia (11.1%). Ford, GM and Stellantis each notched single-digit gains. But many others were down, led by a 37.8% decline for Mitsubishi.

“Toyota said electrified vehicles, nearly all of them hybrids, represented 45.8% of combined Toyota and Lexus sales last month, and nearly 48% of year-to-date volume,” notes AN’s David Phillips, whose report also includes sales numbers from lower-volume EV dealers and data relating to transaction prices and incentive spending.
