Automotive News’s latest compilation of F&I data reported by the nation’s “Big 6” publicly traded dealership groups shows Sonic Automotive led the pack with a 14% year-over-year increase, producing a group-leading $2,718 average F&I gross profit per vehicle retailed.

AutoNation was second with a PVR of $2,711, up 5.9% from the prior-year quarter, while Penske Automotive Group was second in YOY improvement with a 9% gain, falling just shy of $2,000 PVR.

“The only year-over-year decliner was Asbury Automotive Group Inc., but some of this decrease stemmed from the changing accounting related to the growing number of Asbury dealerships selling its own F&I products instead of third-party coverage,” writes AN’s John Huetter.

Last week, StoneEagle reported an average PVR of $1,915 for its 8,900 U.S. dealer users in July, down by less than a percentage point from the prior month.
