Survey: Dealers Blame AI for Inaccurate Online Quotes

An eLEND Solutions survey of dealers and auto finance executives found 90% of respondents believe AI-based pricing, which competes with traditional credit tier band-based pricing in consumer-facing monthly payment calculators, is contributing to inaccurate online quotes.
In a release announcing the survey results, eLEND Solutions founder and CEO Pete MacInnis said a reliance on customer-provided credit scores rather than actual FICO scores is among the key factors.
“Over three-quarters of dealers and lenders in our survey say that the desked-deal and final decision match 50% or less of the time,” MacInnis wrote, in part. “That is an astonishing number, but one that doesn’t surprise us. This mismatch, born of multiple factors uncovered in our survey, creates deep friction in the buying process, impacting CSI, profits and more.”
