VW Freezes Prices Through May

German automaker Volkswagen will not raise U.S. new vehicle prices through at least the end of May, Reuters reports, joining a group of manufacturers who have announced discounts and freezes to reassure car buyers as tariffs on imported vehicles take effect.
Ford led the way with its “From America, For America” employee discount campaign, which would quickly be matched by Stellantis; Hyundai then announced a 60-day freeze on Hyundai and Genesis prices.
“Automakers have provided stability, and even deep discounts, to consumers amid worries that tariffs will drive up prices on dealer lots. In a flurry of announcements earlier this month, U.S. and foreign-owned carmakers offered a variety of deals or price assurances, looking to capitalize on a surge of nervous shoppers hoping to clinch a deal,” Nora Eckert writes for Reuters.
