GM Recalls Chevy, GMC and Cadillac SUVs

An unspecified number of SUVs produced by General Motors between 2021 and 2024 and equipped with the 6.2-liter V8 L87 engine will be recalled over an issue that could cause loss of propulsion, according to GM Authority and other sources.
GM reportedly issued a stop-sale order for the affected vehicles, which include the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Tahoe and Suburban, the GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon and Yukon XL, and the Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV.
“Vehicles that pass inspection will receive an engine oil and filter change, this time using high-viscosity 0W-40 Mobil 1 Supercar oil. The owner’s manual for L87-equipped models calls for 0W-20 oil. The oil fill cap will also be replaced. It’s unclear what happens if an affected SUV does not pass inspection, but it’s likely an engine replacement,” GM Authority’s George Barta writes.
Some of the affected units were recalled in November due to an unrelated transmission issue.
