Mitsubishi Targets Iowa Dealer Over Signage, Brand Program

Mitsubishi Motors has filed a federal lawsuit against John Deery Motor Co. of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, which operates Mitsubishi, Nissan and Lincoln franchises from a shared facility branded primarily as John Deery Nissan.
The factory says John Deery Mitsubishi has violated its dealer agreement by failing to provide a standalone showroom and erect proper signage as required by Mitsubishi’s Visual Identity Program.
“The complaint argues that dealership agreements are binding contracts and that compliance with visual and operational standards is a cornerstone of those agreements,” writes Yahoo Finance’s Philip Uwaoma, who notes the dealer has denied the charges in court filings.
