Hyundai-Amazon Retail Platform Delayed Until 2025

Hyundai has postponed the launch of its retail platform in partnership with Amazon to 2025, according to a CBT News report. The potentially groundbreaking eCommerce solution experienced the delays following the CDK cyberattack that struck dealerships nationwide in June.
Despite the setbacks, Hyundai COO Jose Muñoz remains optimistic that the platform could still launch in Q1 of 2025.
The project was first unveiled back in 2022 at the Los Angeles Auto Show. They first started rolling out the program in 2023 with a pilot program involving 18 dealers.
Despite concerns from dealers that this may spark a direct-to-consumer model that would exclude them from the vehicle sales process, the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) has maintained that the agreement between Amazon and Hyundai has adhered to their franchise laws.
About 80% of Hyundai’s dealer network has expressed interest in participating in the platform, which is being touted as a way for dealers to expand their reach and provide a better customer experience, and not as a DTC solution.
