Opinion: AI Helps Dealers Deliver Proactive Service

Dealers can leverage AI to escape the traditional, reactive, “break/fix mentality” that has characterized most service operations for decades, creating a vehicle-to-dealership connection that can proactively identify areas of concern and help fleet managers maximize uptime.
So says VMS CEO David Prusinski in “The Uptime Imperative: How AI is Transforming the Dealership Service Lane into a Proactive Profit Center,” a new blog entry at DealerELITE.
The key is combining AI tools with a built-in data source: telematics.
“By analyzing patterns in vehicle data — such as slight fluctuations in battery temperature, subtle changes in engine vibration, or early warnings from sensor arrays — AI can predict a component failure before it occurs,” Prusinski writes.
