Toyota: Don’t Blame Tariffs for Price Hike

Prices for new Toyotas sold in the United States will increase by an average of $270 in July, but not because of the Trump administration’s new 25% tariff on vehicles imported from Japan and other countries, according to a Toyota Motor Corp. spokesperson.
“The latest price hike is part of our regular review of the prices,” says Toyota’s Nobu Sunaga, according to a Reuters report, which notes prices for Lexus models will increase by an average of $208.
Toyota joins Mitsubishi, Ford and Subaru among U.S.-facing factories to announce price increases on all or some models built overseas since the tariff took effect April 3.
